Not a doctor but I can definitely relate to your masking/tricks to avoid stuttering. Changing words to another that means the same thing or talking around the word I'm avoiding. Most people I know dont realize I have a stutter. I'm a software consultant, previously spent 15 years in accounting/finance. I'm on the phone daily with external clients. WFH has helped me tremendously, but the thing that helps is they are talking to me because I'm the expert, similar to you being a doctor I suppose. If I am confident in what Im talking about, my stutter is so much easier to cover.
