Recently, I needed to pass English speaking skills exam for my job (it’s not my first language), and I prepared some topics because I needed to lead the convo and ask questions etc. So, we talked movies and I started stuttering unexpectedly and severely on this movie title, started with a sound M. So I stopped, took couple of breaths and announced that I have a speech impediment and hopefully that is fine by him. That was actually a first time I ever said it out loud to a complete stranger, felt rather freeing. And reaction was very positive and relaxing so it didn’t let me down in any way. I did not stutter after that and actually received a kudos later for using not ordinary language for my level (it listed “speech impediment” phrase there along others😆)
