I'm not quite getting information about the attitude from the GP in your presentation. Writing things down is indeed a way to communication, and seeing as how it might help someone get their point across, if they have no immediate way of doing it otherwise, it doesn't seem like a bad suggestion. The _parent_ thing, however... that's weird. So yeah, perhaps they truly don't understand what stuttering is.
