I developed it during my adolescence and it affected me up until I was a high school senior. I did a presentation, everybody laughed at me. The business teacher was telling everyone to shut the fuck up. I went home and I cried. It's affected me all my life, I couldn't order food or introduce myself. I last met my speech pathologist in 6th grade. I saw one again after that incident and we did a few refreshers. When I stopped Fearing the stutter, it stopped affecting me. I did another presentation, people expected me to stutter. I spoke with confidence and a booming voice. A classmate asked if I've been practising, I said no. I stopped caring about whether I'll stutter or not. Now I rarely do. Jobs or activity that require verbal communication skills will help overcome it.
